MT hip carry?

Thread Starter
My dd is due in November. I have a Moby for the newborn stage, and a Chunei also. At this point, I've called quits to purchasing more, but I'm thinking of a MT down the road, and I'd like to have the option to do a front or hip carry (back is optional, since I don't see myself ever maneuvering my child to get her on my back!). Which ones allow for this? Do you recommend/not recommend any?

If not a MT, are there other options for this? I have a history of some neck/shoulder/back issues lingering from a car accident years ago, so I need something that distributes weight.

TIA!

i'm just starting to look into MT and it looks like most of them you can hip carry with. i've also used my moby and pouch sling for hip carries.
as a side note, i was hesitant to do back carries (don't think i ever did with dd1) because i also have neck/back issues, plus i was just uneasy about it, however i've been doing it with dd2 and it's great! i recommend it.

You can do a hip carry with a mei tai, but it's not the most comfy option for a hip carrier. Though, with the neck/shoulder/back issues you have, I think you should probably stick to two shoulder carries. Two shoulder carriers will distribute the weight much better for you, than one that you carry on just one shoulder. Don't be too hesitant of back carries if you get the mei tai--- they are awesome! Practice over something soft. In a week or so of practicing everyday, you'll start to get the hang of it. There are lots of videos on youtube.com with really good instructions.
