Can someone please reccomend the best and most comfortable carrier for serious hiking with a 26 month old ? I tried a metal frame backpack and it just KILLED my hips ! Maybe it was the brand..
I'd use a soft structured carrier like a Beco or an Ergo. They're more comfortable than the frame packs, I find, because the toddler's weight is closer to your body and lower (closer to your center of gravity) instead of being above and away from you.
I would use either a good sturdy wrap or a MT because this is what is most comfortable for me. If something else is what normally works for you, like a SSC, that might work too... but what I would do is find what normally works for you for longer treks.
I use the Ergo and we go hiking quite a bit, though I am not sure it'd qualify as serious - usually 2-3 hours but I think I'd be fine going all day in it. You can also get a backback that can be attached and used as a daypack.
