Cloth vs. Disposable: The Ecological Impact?

Ok-

Cloth vs. Disposable

Waste vs. Water Use...

I'm currently pregnant with my first and I am considering cloth diapering because overall it seems more economical in the long term and on the surface, it seems like the most ecologically responsible choice (besides that elimination communication thing...but my Native family and my Mexican in-laws would never get the hang of that and they will play a big role in raising our babe!)

BUT the issue of water comes to mind when I think of the amount of laundering that has to happen when using cloth. Water issues are a big concern of mine, I currently live in the high mountain desert and work with an environmental non-profit... so I wonder is it worth the trade off?

Does anyone have any thoughts/articles/resources on this?

Oh nice! I just didn't bother to look back two weeks ago in this forum! lol

Thanks for linking me to this! No need to reinvent the wheel.

I wanted to chime in about EC, since we've been doing it since my babe was tiny, and you mentioned it. You can do it "part time" which works really well when there are lots of people taking care of the babe. It's worth looking into even if others won't be able to do it. And they might surprise you, too! Congratulations on your baby!
