Hello! I am the mother of a 17 year old boychild who came out to us a few years ago. We know that gay is just as normal as straight (& everything in between!) and are very proud of our son for who he is, including being an out young man in a very conservative area.
Over the past few years I have occasionally looked for other parents in my position. The nearest PFLAG chapter is over two hours away and while I considered starting a group, after reading their literature I decided not too. While I applaud parents who get to work on their own issues so as to better support their children, I just have very little much patience for people who need to "grieve" and the like.
So, my question is, do any of you know of a group, web-based or otherwise, that is for parents who think their kids are perfectly normal but have issues with the society their kids are growing up in. I am an activist but find the day to day issues of this kind of parenting to sometimes be rather lonely. A website or something similiar would be great as well. Sometimes I think I should start my own blog or website but my computer skills make that a very unlikely option.
Thank you for your time and for leading the way for my kid.
Kate
