My great aunt at her 88th birthday party...

My great aunt celebrated her 88th birthday with all the cousins, grandkids and relatives at a restuarant. My cousin had just had her baby weeks prior and as she was standing up with the baby, my great aunt said "Kelly where are you going, hon?" She said "Oh the baby is hungry I am going into the bathroom to feed her." My great aunt replied loud enough for EVERYONE to hear "Why in the hell would you do that? Good god, we all have breasts or have seen breasts so don't be embarrassed, just sit down and feed the kid." : Kelly was a little shy, but she managed to sit down and nurse, I kinda felt sorry for her because she felt pressured to sit there. After she finished nursing I asked her if everything was ok. She said it was her first time nursing in public and she said she is over the fear. : Yeah for her and for my great aunt!

sometimes I think of what kind of person I'll be at that age, and I generally end up laughing my ass off at the thought.

That is so awesome!! Reminds me of a story in a book I read while I was pregnant, "Having Faith". In the book she asks her 90 year old grandmother what the kicking will feel like. Her grandmother doesn't answer her and when she looks away her grandmother suddenly elbows her ribs and replies "kinda like that" Your aunt and this grandmother sound very similar lol How awesome!!!

Reminds me of my Granny! We recently visited Granny and my sister was nursing her week old baby, who was kind of hidden in his big flannel blanket. Granny said, "What are you doing, nursing him? You don't have to hide it, not like I've never seen a titty before!"

Oh, Granny!

Before I saw your location I was thinking she could be my MIL's neighbor; she still greets me with "you ARE still nursing that baby aren't you?" after 14 mos.:

that made me happy

the first time i nursed DS1 in public i was at a train station & had him covered a bit with a blanket over my shoulder & he grumbled & squirmed a bit (not being used to having a blanket over him!) & these two old ladies on the bench next to me (i'm guessing 70+) said something like "mum, i can't eat with that blanket over my head!" while smiling & i laughed & realized i was being silly. i've been confident BFing in public ever since!

older folks are the best. when my now 7yo ds was tiny i was at a going away party for an older member of our church. there were lots of older folks there and for some reason i i just felt like having some privacy so i moved from the dining area of the rented hall to a chair off to one side. when i came back to the table, one of our ministers in his 70's leaned over and said, "next time LO eats with the rest of the family, got it?" he met his wife in asia where women nursed openly and they had half a dozen or so kids, prolly all bf, and so i took his word as gold and never left the table again the rest of the day.

I want to be just like your aunt when I grow-up!

yay for your aunt!!!

I wish my family would be like that my, When my mother nursed us she felt pressure to leave the room because it was "weird" I always nursed Ds in public or in front of my family. I made it normal for them

I also want to be like your aunt when I grow up you can tell her she has fans all over the world
