Will these felt?

Gee there seem to be several felting questions lately!

I picked up some sweaters from the thrift store and am now second guessing myself on a few as to if they will felt up or not.

One is 100% cashmere the other is 100% merino wool (Lands End). Both have dry clean as care instructions. Both are a really fine knit.

If the cashmere will not...I need some ideas on what to do with it! It's it so soft and a nice shade of yellow (though a bit on the banana side of things maybe.) that it would be nice to do something for my dd with it even if it won't felt.

Thanks!

you can get wool that is unfeltable, but generally it will be washable, so if it's dry clean only that's a really good sign. However, on rare occasion you can buy some high quality wool that is hand washable but is also superwash, and the worst part is that it doesn't always say. Chances are yours is feltable and the cashmere should be amazing! FYI- if you're making diaper covers, cashmere doesn't hold liquid like sheeps wool. It's okay for day use, but doesn't work overnight.
