Question about Goodmama fitted

While Goodmama's was having their sale, I ordered two of the one size fitted diapers to try out. I figured at $12 each, I didn't have much to lose. This is my first time CDing and I felt really dumb when I tried to figure these diapers out. My baby isn't here yet, so I was just playing around with them.

For anyone who has them...how does the rise setting work? If I wanted to make it smaller, do I just fold it over or does it actually snap somehow. There are so many snaps on that diaper it's crazy! I'm not sure how much my DH is going to like using them.

Also...they seem incredibly bulky! What cover do you use over them? I was going to knit a wool cover, but I don't even know what size to make.

I feel so silly.....they just seem confusing to me!

You do just fold the rise over. It takes some getting used to but it does work, just pull up on the diaper quite hard to get the rise to the size you want. Then snap all 3 snaps on each wing. Not terribly DH friendly but mine manages it (sort of!)

Imse Vimse covers fit well over GMs--you need a very full-cut cover. Any pull-up wool works too. I would knit a size small or medium soaker. GMs (like other OS diaps) start fitting really nicely once your baby is out of the newborn/small size. They do fit from about 10lbs, but they start to seem right at about 15lbs, IMO. The great thing is that they keep fitting--my 3yo wore them as night diaps and she's 29lbs.

You can also go coverless, nice once LO starts crawling. You have to change more often but it's nice for their butts to get some air!

I must confess to being kind of in love with goodmamas. I also bought 2 in a sale and was completely hooked, now we have a nice stash. I never thought I would be into ridiculously expensive diapers but they're just. so. nice.

HTH!
