Won't Eat Out

DD is refusing to eat with any distractions. She won't even eat at home if I'm watching tv or talking to DH. I only get away with using the laptop about half the time.

She just won't eat when we leave the house. Today I even tried feeding her in the car. This has failed before, but then it was daytime so she could see out the windows. This time it was night. Still no go.

I'm trying to stay home as much as possible, but our house is on the market so we have to leave, sometimes right at meal time.

I have three thoughts for you:

1- How about a "nursing buddy"? A soft animal or blanket or something that she holds or is kept by her while she nurses at home. Then when you are out, you can bring that same nursing buddy and help make her feel comfortable.

2- How about a nursing cover. I'm not really a fan of them but it may help ease her from feeling distracted. Again, you could try doing it at home and then doing it while you're out.

3- What about nursing at home on the couch and then walking around the house while nursing and then eventually try to walk outside. : Might work.

My dd was the same way. the only way she'd go for it is if we laid down. I've actually gone to the lounges in dept stores and laid down on the floor to nurse.

My DD went through a phase where she would only eat laying down in our bed. That was IT. She would only eat out and about if she was STARVING and I could lay down with her. It lasted a month, maybe a month and a half...but eventually she outgrew it and now she'll eat just about anywhere now.

My DS has been the same way since very young. Would. NOT. eat unless we were at home. I was so relieved to start solids/sippy with him because at least he wouldn't starve when we were out and about. Sometimes I would bring a sippy of EBM with us, if we were going to be out too long. But mostly I just make sure we aren't out of the house too long. that has been a huge challenge for us, hope you find some solutions!
