If your child weans while you are pregnant because of supply issues (this apparently happens about half way through for many women?), will they still remember how to do it once the baby is born and the milk comes back? Can a child stop nursing for 4-5 months and just pick it back up? If it makes a difference, suppose the child is 2 years 4 months or older.

My 30 month old stopped at 23 months, and forgot by the time his brother was born when he was 28 months. Not sure if he is the norm, but I have a feeling if I hadlet him nurse again, he would have figured it out pretty quickly!

DD didn't nurse for probably 2 1/2 3 mos at 4 and although she did forget initailly she kept trying and got it back again within a day.
Now we are latching about on once every week or two so she doesn't forget before the milk comes back.
If she hadn't been so upsett or if I wasn't encouraging her to try she probably would have weaned.
