Wheat Intolerance and Cravings?

Although I've never had any formal testing, I strongly suspect I have an intolerance to wheat (or maybe gluten). Every time I eat anything containing wheat, I get the same symptoms ~ gas, bloating, and pretty bad nausea. I also become very irritable and angry. I've "given up" wheat for months and during those times, I have none of the symptoms and my moods are much more even. But, I have HUGE cravings for wheat, bread in particular. A lot of it is mental, because if I tell myself I "can't have it", I want it that much more. Still, it amazes me that I want something that makes me physically sick :.

So, I'm wondering if it's normal to crave the things we are allergic/intolerant to and what can be done to reduce these cravings. I just had a sandwich for lunch (wanted a sandwich for days, and finally gave in) and now I feel as if I may vomit.

Totally normal. My dd2 is celiac and LOVED eating bread and sweets (still does.....but we now have to do gluten free kinds:-)) and my dd1 is allergic to dairy and oranges and it drives her CRAZY to not be able to drink milk and orange juice--I mean she throws fits wanting these things....
When they were dx'd I remember the Doc saying that those will intolerances/allergies either crave the thing they can't have or they can't stand it

random thought... are you sensitive to fruits at all? wheat is high in fructans and people that are sensitive to fructose/fructans (fructose malabsorption) generally have bad rxns to wheat. i get wicked headaches, irritability, and cottonmouth.
