my letter to preschool

DS is starting 3 day/2.5 hours preschool this year. He's 2.5 and started potty learning, but I'm sure a diaper change will happen. I've gone through the board, and have adapted a quick note that is going into his file and also going to be posted where diaper changes go.

Attention Diaper Changers:

Quote:
My son was left intact at birth. This means his penis is not circumcised. No special care is needed during a diaper change.

During diaper changes, just clean his penis like you would a finger, wiping the outside from base to tip. Please be careful not to move or pull on his foreskin, as it's fused to his penis like your fingernails are fused to your fingers, and tugging on it or tearing it would be very painful and could cause permanent damage. No need to do anything but wipe down the outside. Again, please do not manipulate his foreskin in any way.

That sounds great, and will serve as an excellent reminder to his care givers. I would make sure that you speak to them in person, too.

I like it but I think this part needs reworded a bit. The way it is now makes it sound like even pulling on it will cause harm and that isnt the case. If you have ever seen your ds streeeeetch that thing out you know what I mean

I would put something along the lines of "Please take care that the foreskin is ever moved back toward his body as this could cause tearing and pain. When wiping you should wipe toward you. This will clean off all that is needed."

After all it isnt made of glass though retracting can and does cause harm to many boys

I just took out the pull on... I was unsure about that in there.

good. I would also explain that they need not wipe him unless there is poop or something actually on his penis. They might take what you wrote to mean that he needs to be wiped at every diaper change since his is intact. Just tell them to wipe from base to tip if there is any feces on his penis and be careful never to push foreskin toward the body and never try to wipe out the opening of the foreskin.

Isn't it sad that we have to do this just to protect our sons!
