Replacing FBs-A Question

Hi all,

The PUL on a few of my FBs is pulling away from the shell; on one of them it has torn off completely. Over the past week or so, we've had a ton of leaks (I double stuff the FBs with two of the inserts that come with them), and I'm wondering if I'm going to need to replace them.

My son turned 2 at the end of May. He uses the potty on occasion-mainly to pee, rarely to poop. I don't have any idea of when he'll potty learn, and we're not pushing the issue at the moment.

So, while it pains me to spend money we really don't have on more cloth after having bought a fair amount already, I think we're going to need to. I was thinking of going to prefolds (wool? hemp?) and covers, but I was wondering how it all works. How many covers would you suggest? Can the covers be reused a time or two, or are the tossed in the laundry at every diaper change? What prefolds are the most absorbent? And, most importantly, where can I find these items for the best price?

Hi there! For his age, you would probably need 12-15 prefolds and 3-4 covers. Wool and PUL covers both can be used multiple times before laundering and wool covers can be used for quite some time before they need to be washed. The only pitfall i can think of here is that some people have not liked using prefolds during the potty training time period HOWEVER that being said, i also know that plenty of people have without problem. Prefolds may be an inexpensive way to replace those diapers for the diapering time you have left. How old are the fuzzi bunz? Are they still in warranty?

The FBs were bought from an online "seconds" store, so I don't think they have a warranty. Boo.

I'm thinking about doing Chinese prefolds and wool covers. Have any suggestions as to what brands are best and where I can find them on the cheap?

I would keep an eye out for discounts at the CD online stores. You can usually find discounts for first time customers, and sign up for newsletters because they often have them too! Good luck mama!

As far as favorite wool....my all time favorite wool cover is aristocrats covers -- they are awesome for overnight use!!! Some people find them a bit bulky for day use though. I also like imse vimse wool covers.
