Parents legal right for removal of healthy body parts

I was thinking, are there any laws specifying what rights parents have to perform surgery on their children? Are there laws that say that parents don't have the right to perform elective amputations and then they have a clause that says, "except for the foreskin" ?

What governs what rights a parent has to authorize elective surgery? Does it have to have medical benefits? I think that an elective masectomy has huge medical benefits to my DD. So if I could find a doctor to do it, am I allowed to? Or is there some law that protects my DD from my "personal choice"?

I'm just confused as to what laws allow circ. Or maybe laws don't and people do it anyway. *shrug*

I actually am in the process of finding a doctor who will perform a double mastectomy and/or Nubian infibulation on me. (There's a loophole in the federal anti-FGM law that allows for the procedure to be performed on consenting individuals over the age of 18. In short, the law can't stop me. )

I think the law was purposely left that way to allow for consenting adults to decide for themselves. Hence the whole vaginal rejuvenation craze!

I think in most cases also, if it isn't expressly illegal...then it's legal.
