i was curious about this mothering link. my dd is nearly 6. i'd love to teach her to knit but she gets frustrated quickly. anyone ever use a knitting fork, esp. with a child? is it worth it? maybe i just need to keep trying with the usual needles.

she might be more ready for a knitting loom, which I've seen at crafts stores and some box stores. I hear they're easy to learn. Unfortunately, they're made of plastic.

I've never heard of a knitting fork, but I'm going to the link now..... I think you'd have to learn it first to be able to teach her. It looks like it would work a bit like the loom.

Hopefully, someone else will have more to add (like some real advice).

I second the knitting loom. I was given one when I was younger and it was pretty easy to learn.

I've never used one, but to get better reviews and instructions on how to use it, try googling Lucet. You also could try asking in the SCA Mammas tribe, Lucet's have been around a long time, and maybe some of them have seen them at demos or events.

I third the loom, my 4 yo can sort of handle it almost on his own. The fork looks really interesting though, I'm gonna research it more.
