Another, what else do I need?

Hi everyone,

We are expecting our first at the end of November, and I'm trying to figure out just what we need for diapers. I'm so excited to be using cloth, and I've been reading so many threads trying to figure out what I need so that I wouldn't have to ask....but I'd sure appreciate it if someone could let me know if what I have looks good or if I'm missing something.

Right now, I actually don't have any diapers, this is just what I've put on our amazon registry:

2 dozen Green Mountain newborn orange edge prefolds
2 dozen Green Mountain small yellow edge prefolds
6 kissaluvs fitted size 0
3 Bummis super brite covers, newborn size
2 Bummis super whisper wrap covers, small size
3 Thirsties covers, size x-small
3 Snappis
2 hanging wet bags

Does that seem reasonable? Do I need wool covers or anything special for overnight? Anything you'd recommend that I change or add?

Thanks so much!

I use wool at night for my older son, but my Thirsties at night works well for my nb.

The rest of the list looks good.

Don't forget to check into detergent, as well as a storage system (pail with liner or hanging liner...

We use doublers at night, either hemp or bamboo.

Wipes?

I'm planning on just using the hanging wet bags. Hanging them on the closet door knob. I've heard of lots of people doing this, and our bathroom is rather small, so I'd love to find ways to save space if possible Do you think that would work?

I forgot, I registered for some cloth wipes as well, and I'm planning on making my own. We'll see if I get there I'm not feeling terribly motivated at the moment.

Do you think that doublers are necessary? Or just helpful?

The hanging diaper "pail' will work just fine!

Whether you need doublers or not is something you'll figure out as you go. If you find you don't have enough absorbancy, you can always use two prefolds, or even fold a wash cloth up in there. I'm really glad I have mine, but it's something you can always get later if you feel you need them. that's my opinion anyhow.

Sounds perfect! Add wipes, 2 wet bags, a minishower (which you will not need for a while but it's worth the money), pins (just to try), and I think you've got it.

I would consider adding wipes -- i could never have done without my wipes! Also wet bags are a nice thing to have.
We loved our minishower!! Some people get by fine without them, but i definitely found ours to be useful! It is 6 years old and still works!!

maybe a zippered wetbag for your diaper bag. I got mine off of etsy. I just wash with the diapers when needed.

I've been using wool from day one at night. I love it. Maybe one to try and see how you like it and then go from there.

I did add wipes and a minishower to the registry. Thanks! I'll have to look for a smaller wet bag for the diaper bag. Good idea.

Any recs for a wool cover? The only time I've ever seen one is when I was doing nursery at church. A mama used to buy old wool sweaters from Good Will and make covers out of them. I don't think I'm up for that

That looks good to me, now that you've added to your registry. I know a lot of mamas make recycled wool soakers from old sweaters. I think there are some tutorials around somewhere if you get up to it.

If I were going to buy a wool cover (which I'm not), I would probably buy the Lanacare. Second choice Aristocrats, third choice Bumpy.

Thanks so much : I feel so much better knowing that it looks like I haven't missed anything!

I'm so very excited about this, and can't wait for my shower, and hopefully get lots of diapers
