Good luck during your recovery. It's hard after a regular c-section, so I can't begin to imagine how you are feeling after a true emergency one.

Yes, I was at home. My midwife caught the prolapse while doing a check. She didn't think things were progressing and i was acting weird. We drove to the hospital with me on hands and knees in the trunk of our station wagon. My midwife behind me with her hand up holding the baby;s head to make sure he did not descend. We didn't want to call and ambulance as it would have taken us to a hospital not qualified to deal with this and we wanted nicu etc available if needed. The scary thing is I labored for 6 hours or so with no cord in the way. She checked me twice in that time and is certain the cord was fine. As i progressed we think it slid off his neck and head and under resulting in the prolapse. Lucky i wasn't progressing faster. it is as if my body and the baby knew something was off and was refusing to go into labor.
He really is my little miracle baby. We are home already and he just figured out nursing. right now he is sleeping on my chest.
