My second just turned 1 yesterday; my first turns 3 tomorrow.
Tonight I waited for a focused time with my DH (out for the evening walk with the kids as compared to listening to the news or trying to get kids jammied, etc...) and said, "You know, not only does Lio's birthday mark a big milestone for him, but also for me. I've been breastfeeding two children for an entire year!"
His response: "Woohoo."
He didn't mean to be mean, which made it that much more hurtful- it seems to have never crossed his mind that breastfeeding two children might be a challenge! My first has multiple food allergies and still relies on nutritive nursing, so between the two of them, I am nursing someone every 2 hours ALL DAY AND NIGHT LONG. EVERY 2 HOURS.
At least I can rely on you ladies to help me celebrate! So for my first tandem birthday, I want any congratulations you can give to buoy me up. I will print them off and tape them inside my edition of "Mothering Your Nursing Toddler." Or maybe to the inside of my husband's laptop.
