Best and Worst Cloth Diapering Purchases?

I want to know what your best {and worst!} purchases have been during your time cloth diapering?

My best is a tie between my BGs and my diaper sprayer.

My worst was probably my Gdiapers. They didn't work for us at all!

I don't think I could say a best. I've really liked all the variety of brands I've tried, 4 different kinds of pockets - Tiny Tush, Happy Heiny's, BumGenius and BabyKanga. I've tried flats and fitteds and prefolds and I like each one for seperate reasons. None of them is a bad purchase... Well, I didn't like one brand of flats as much, but that's about it.

I think the diaper sprayer I could have lived without. We didn't have one initially, and did ok. Then got it, and I don't like how we can't controll the flow coming out - it's just a really hard spray and poop and whatnot goes EVERYWHERE. We used it very rarely and now I'm trying to get the Mister to take it off before DD discovers it and soaks the bathroom.

My worst was my Sugar Peas wool cover. I had been wanting one for so long and I was really disappointed with it. It was too small for my baby in the thighs and always got compression leaks.

My best buy is probably my London Frogg fitted. My Mommy's Touch Easy Clean Snap diapers are probably second.

worst would probably all the Kushies I got in the beginning... but considering their (odd) resale value, it is what helped me try better diapers.

best, hmmm, I would say the indian prefolds I bought years ago that are still going strong. Other than that, ATM I would say I am glad I took a chance with BG organic AIO's cause they are by far my favorite diaper.

My worst purchase has been Bum Genius diapers. I hate the cheap feel of the tab and the way the liner causes a rash.

My best purchase has been Fuzzi Bunz. I contacted them with a question about the insert in the One Size diaper and they were quick to respond with a thorough explanation. They even replaced the insert I was asking about even though I wasn't asking them to do that.

My best and (one of my) worst was the same: Little Beetle fitteds. They are GREAT for fit and VERY absorbent, so we use them for nighttime and naptime. Never had a leak, even with the teething runny poops.

However, they are awful in terms of quality. After less than a year of not-so-regular use, they have holes all over the inside, the front velcro strip is coming off several of them (and I don't sew, so it's not like I can just go ahead and fix it), and the velcro on all but 1 (out of 2 dozen) fails, so I have to use a snappi on them. I can't imagine how tattered they'd be if I were using them all day, too, which had been my original plan.

Other worsts: G-diapers and Sugar Peas -- both fit horribly and resulted in the only leaks/explosions I've ever had.

My best was probably Snappis, that way we got a lot of use out of the prefolds since DH won't do pins.

My worst were the PEVA Gerber covers.

good question!

My best would probably be my GMD prefolds - they are so awesome, fit so well, absorbent, multiple uses and the mother of all workhorse diapers.

my worst.... hmmmmm.... I don't think I've had anything that bad, nothing so bad that I don't use it. It's a toss up between my kissaluvs (got crunch and stiff SO fast!) and my nanipoos fitted (bulky and not that great of a fit)

my other best and worst were a goodmama fitted diaper and a little beetle one - they are both so awesome in every way and terrible since they are so damn expensive that I can only afford the one (and I got them both used)

Mine is probably more general than everyone here but..

I LOVE velcro (aplix/ hook and loop whatever its called) and HATE snaps

Best purchase: AIOs- all of them, have not met a single AIO that I don't love and I have 6 styles I think. Also loving pocket dipes!

Worst purchase: Prefolds (as a system)

This really is a great question. I love seeing what has worked for other parents.

I love my Fuzzibunz. I am actually very happy with the prefold/cover system but I use the Fuzzibunz for outings and some nights and we are super happy.

The only thing I have bought that I don't need are biodegradable diaper liners but that is only because we also EC so we don't have to deal with poopy diapers very often. (so it isn't really a bad purchase, just an unnecessary one)

I think my 'worst purchase' was the gdiapers I tried in the very beginning... Ony used them a few times, literally 3, then they went to the bottom of the stack. Good thing I was prepared, just in case. 'Best' is...... our wool in general. I got mine from Etsy and it was all $8-$12 per piece, so I didn't pay the high prices like many mamas do and the designs and colors are just too cute! Plus, they work great!

Worst and Best

I'm not too upset about my stuff that didn't work out because most of it I got cheap or free. If I'd paid full price, I would have been very unhappy.

Bumkins Covers - waterproofing didn't last very long compared with other covers, and the velcro was stiff and prone to pocking baby.

Kushies AIOs - I got most of these for free from a friend and paid $6 each the ones I bought. The were poorly designed and prone to wicking, and the covering dries out and cracks.

Pro Services AIO - cover dried out and cracked.

Re-Uz-ms AIO - I have two styles of these, I got them for about $6 each at a discount store, and one style lost it's waterproofing very quickly.

I've loved my prefolds, kissaluvs, fuzzi bunz, knickernappies, swaddle bees, and my bummis covers. We're coming up on baby number 4 so diapers that last score big points with me, and over so many kids we've found situations where diapers that didn't work for one worked for another.

I'm also not thrilled with my Bum Genius. I bought it in Canada in an emergency and it cost $25. It's a nice diaper, but not $25 nice.

Best purchase: regular 4x6x4 prefolds that dd wore from 1 month until she was nearly 2 years, and could have worn longer than that with doublers.

Worst purchase: there was the Happy Heiny's that leaked around the legs every single time she wore it, but I only bought 1 one of those, so I'm over it now. I would say in general the worst idea was trying one of everything and ending up with way too much stuff. It was sort of fun, but I'm trying to avoid it this time around.

Best purchase: Prefolds and covers. They are tanks that hold ANYTHING. I also use the prefolds for everything imaginable.

Worst purchase: BG AIO's. It's not the AIO part that bothers me. I just let them hang for a bit after the dryer cycle to get them all the way done. They are just not very good quality. The tabs are falling apart and the velcro is super pilly. I have diapers that have been used 4 times as long that do not look this bad. Can't wait to get rid of them and justify buying new ones!

Best: prefolds and wool covers. That is almost all we use.

Worst: Kooshies.

Best is our prefolds and Kiwi Pie wool covers. I have pfs in every size imaginable, about 3doz in each size. They are our workhorse. And the KPs I became addicted to very early on in my CDing career are on their 4th child and still going strong. They're as soft as ever, fit over everything, and are just my and my husband's fave covers ever

Worst CDing purchase has to be the FuzziBunz we bought that were made during the "upset" time of FBs (about 2yrs ago I think). They lasted just a few months before the elastic on about 1 doz FBs blew out and they became worthless. I have other FBs that have lasted quite a while and are great as our diaper bag dipes, but this 1doz, man, the workmanship was shoddy and I'm so disappointed in them.

I stumbled upon these WAHM diapers and they are my absolute favorite! They are SO absorbent and keep ds dry. They have snap in inserts to a PUL cover and there are fleece pocket dipes that I use at night. They work great!

Worst would be the WAHM I bought on DS that is really crappy, or the Super-Do inserts that ds soaks through in 2 hours. : I was expecting miracles after the amazing recs I got.

I have only ever bought prefolds with a variety of covers (had to switch to snaps when dd started getting out of the velcro covers at about 18 months). I have used them for over four years now and have had no problems with them, although at the moment I'm trying to find the best fold for overnight for my skinny 2.5 yo son. We're near enough to being out of dipes forever that I'm not planning on trying another kind.

Thanks for the responses mamas! It's interesting to see what has worked {and what hasn't!} for everyone. Keep 'em coming!

Best- my AMP Duos (stands for Annie Marie Padorie). (I only have one so far- the rest will be delivered today . It fits so well on him, and just makes me happy every time I put it on him. It has elastic in the belly, which has to make it more comfy when we sit him up, and the elastic is really gentle. I could go on about the reasons I love AMP Duos, but I won't

Worst- My Rumparooz. They wick out of the tabs onto his clothes almost every time. I bought 6 of them because they were on sale, and only semi-like the 1 snap rar I got. I contacted the company and they decided it was a fit issue. Not sure that's correct, but whatever.

2nd worst- anything velcro (except the SoftBums- their velcro is fine, and doesn't come undone in the washer). Can't stand when it sticks to other stuff in the laundry. I don't think I'd even take velcro stuff for free at this point.
