Just another newbie asking for a critique of her stash...

So far, this is what I've bought (in the Sm/OS category - I have a whole bunch in larger sizes, too):
6 Disana Tie Nappies
3 Sm Dream-Eze
3 Size 1 Little Beetles
1 Sm LoveyBum
2 Sm Valor Kids
3 Sm Swaddlebees
5 Imse Vimse Terry Flats
1 UtN Prefold
6 Imse Vimse Muslin Flats
5 Sz 1 Diaperkits (haven't finished sewing them yet, though)

Then for covers, I have:
1 Kozy Wool soaker
1 Sm Biobottom
1 LTK Ribby Wrap (knitted by me)
1 Curly Purley (knitted by me)
1 pull-on soaker (knitted by me)
1 sleep sack (knitted by me)

I also have a stash of wool for knitting, and another for turning into butt sweaters if I need it - including 3 yds of wool interlock.

I have about half a dozen doublers and another half-dozen inserts (again, some of these need sewing still).

What I know I'm missing now is pins and a pail... anything else?

ETA - I have 50 family cloth wipes now and I'm in a co-op to get 100 more before too long, I was just planning on using those. And my washer/dryer are already diaper-friendly.

DO you have any in newborn? There is a difference between NB and SM sizes. And I'd suggest more covers, esp for the wee little stages. You'd be surprised (or maybe not, depending on how many BF babies you've been around) about how BF poo can squirt! Woo!

No - nothing in NB size, although I do have a couple preemie sized prefolds from my last pregnancy. If this little guy makes it to term I don't expect he's going to be under 8 pounds, so spending money on a NB stash didn't really make much sense (hence the flats/tie nappies... and even some of the doublers could work as flats for a small baby).

You don't think 6 covers will be enough? Gee darn - an excuse to knit some more. Now if I could just find my knitting needles.

I don't at all want to burst your bubble - but my handknit wool soakers don't work nearly as well as I had hoped with this nb. I'm so glad I have some PUL covers as well. Now, yours may very well work fine, but they can take a while to dry out in between, so a few more may be good. Also, I love the interlock covers I have for my older ds...so that's an idea.

For newborn and small I really prefer a wrap style cover.....if you snappi a prefold well or use a fitted or do an origami fold with flats you'll get a good enough poo containment BUT ...... it's HARD to get a pull on cover on a newborn...............
