I'm just curious. She was found on the side of the road as a tiny pup, and we just adopted her this weekend. She's about a year old. She has blue eyes, short hair, and I haven't weighed her but I'd guess she's around 35-40 lbs.

She reminds me of an Ibizan Hound, but she's too small to be one, maybe a cross with that in her. I really don't know what breed your dog is, but she resembles the Ibizan.

Although, my friend has a German Shepherd/Greyhound mix, with a slight resemblance to your dog.

Some vets offer a blood test to analyze the DNA and can come up with what types of breeds are in the lineage. You could try doing that if you really want to know. I was going to do this with my dog, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

I had a dog that looked similiar. She had the big ears, the long, sleek body with ice blue eyes. She was an aussie/GSD mix.

Your dog is very cute but honestly, I think she is a heinz 57. I can not see 2 distinct breeds in her at all.

the ears remind my of my GSD's when they were pups- the ears too big for the head look, lol

Hmm, defiantly some shepherd in there. Maybe one of the nordic breeds, maybe some sight hound. She's adorable! What did you name her?

Probably true! She could be anything.

That sounds cool, but I'm not sure I want to know badly enough to pay I should ask when we take her to the vet next.

She came with the name Pook but we are also calling her Sookie... my dh really hates the name pook and wants to change it but I think it needs to at least sound similar... so I don't know

German Shepherd Dog

I agree that she has an ibizan look but sometimes mixed breeds don't resemble their parents at all. If all of her litter looked like that though I would say the chances of her being part ibizan (or another sighthound) are better.

GSD = German Shepherd Dog

Honestly I don't think it needs to sound similar at all. I've changed the names of both my adopted dogs and they had no problem with it. I figure a new beginning = a new name. Dogs don't really care what you call them as long as it's associated with good things.

One of my dogs had the name "Tyler" and we changed it to Mayhem (I'm not big on human names for dogs). When we went for walks I'd grab a handful of kibble and periodically I'd say his new name - when he looked at me he'd get a kibble. He knows his name really well.

Good to know! I've heard this elsewhere too so we are just going to change the name, once we agree on one

That is a beautiful dog! We also have heinz 57 that looks a bit like a mini Aussie though we joke that she is dachshund and GSD
We also changed her name and it really only took a week or so for her to look up at the sound of it. She was a street rescue and is very food motivated so treats were/are a big help in helping her figure out what we want.

She's cute! She looks to me like she has some kind of arctic breed as well as shepherd. But I think other posters are probably right on when they say she's a heinz 57. It's fun to try and guess but without that DNA test it's like shaking/feeling a Christmas present without ever unwrapping it!

Meh, no worries there. We always re-name our adopted dogs and they respond to their new names in a few days. Often, the shelter assigns a name and they don't really know it, anyway.

As someone mentioned she does have that sleek sighthound body, as per which breed of sighthound, it's a mystery. She is really lovely though.
So glad that you took her into your home and family- she looks so happy!

I would guess there's some Basenji in her-she's a beautiful girl.

I couldn't tell what kind of dog- perhaps some Shephard in there?- but I am absolutely in love. : She's absolutely GORGEOUS!

Wow those are some ears! We have a big eared mutt who is more than likely Border collie and shep with a bit of husky. I see shepherd in those ears.

But my original thought was that she was part bat!
