Could I presoak my rice?

It seems like I NEVER end up soaking our rice. We don't eat it very often, but when we do it's either a last minute addition to the meal or I totally forget to soak it.

So I was wondering if there's any reason I couldn't soak a bunch of it for 7-8 hours, drain and rinse it, and then measure it into freezer bags and freeze it? I realize it would be just a big clump, but it would be a measured clump (I'm thinking 1 cup at a time) and easy to pop into boiling water to cook.

I thought rice didn't have to be soaked?

I don't know the answer. But if you do try it, I would like to know how it turns out.

I think according to SF, it is slightly less necessary to soak than say wheat, but it ought to be. I don't know if you can presoak it, but I would LOVE to know the answer.
