Lexapro Fever?

I started taking 10 mg of Lexapro 9 days ago in the evenings. The morning after my 7th dose, I woke up to wringing wet sheets from sweating, nausea, diarrhea and a fever followed by repeated horrendous panic attacks.

I noticed when I first started it that I had trouble sleeping and in the morning would feel like a hot flash and start sweating profusely. I also noticed in the evenings, my face would feel like it was on fire and the rest of me would feel chilly. So, on Tuesday morning when I woke up to the panic attacks, I didn't realize that I had a slight temperature of 99 degrees. My doctor recommended that I start taking 10 mg every other day, then every two days, etc. to wean myself off. She also said that she is not aware of anyone having these types of side effects from taking Lexapro. So, I did not take anything last night and am supposed to take the 10 mg pill tonight. This afternoon, my fever has increased to 100 degrees. Has anyone had a fever with Lexapro? I saw on some sites that "flu-like symptoms" were a side effect, so I guess that includes fever?

TIA!

Jennifer

ETA: After posting this, I took a pregnancy test and it came back BFP. Of course, now the anxiety is kicked into overdrive and the hot flashes are at an all time high! I spoke with my OBGYN and he told me that he wouldn't take the Lexapro anymore if I was going to go ahead and get off of it anyway. He didn't think I needed to taper off since I only took it for a week. I haven't taken it for the last two nights and had wicked shakes earlier this evening and still feel very jittery. Thanks for reading!

Congratulations, mama!

You might have flu like symptoms for a while after stopping the Lexapro. If you want to take something during pregnancy, zoloft is really safe.

Talk to your OB about it when you go in for your first visit. Anxiety and panic and depression are MUCH worse for a baby than taking an ssri ever could be. There is new data showing how very very safe these are in pregnancy.

Thanks so much for this information. My OB said that I could continue to take the BusPar when needed. Since going off of the Lexapro, things have calmed down quite a bit! Thank goodness! I am still waiting on my recent bloodwork about the pregnancy, but at least the panic attacks have stopped! Thanks again for your help!
