fruit flies in my peppers, help!

I have a bell pepper plant on my kitchen table. It likes it there and is flourishing. However, a couple weeks ago we left some bananas on the table too long and they started spawning fruit flies. By the time we got the bananas out of the way, the flies had migrated to my pepper plant! They don't seem to be hurting it, they just crawl and fly around it all day and it's really gross, plus they seem to be multiplying and I don't know if they'll start hurting it in the future. How do I get rid of them without pesticides? Would moving the plant outside work? I'd rather not since it seems to like my table so much and I don't want to spread the flies to my outside plants. But it's starting to prevent us from eating at the table so something has to be done... Suggestions?
