Is this thrush or a bad latch?

With DD, I had major latch & supply issues, but muddled through and ended up nursing for 21 months. A friend who was with me through the whole thing says I must now have "nipples of steel" so I think I have a pretty high tolerance for nipple pain, which is coloring my judgment, I think.

DS is 6 weeks and nursed wonderfully at the beginning. I was so happy, compared to what happened with DD. The last week or so, he's been fussing a LOT at the breast and making the clicking sound (the dreaded breaking of the latch I remember so well) At the same time, his mouth is COVERED in white goo -- tongue mostly, but now I'm seeing bits on his gums and the inside of his cheeks.

No diaper rash. I don't have any yeast infection systems, as I have never (to my knowledge) had a yeast infection. No antibiotics. But the pain ...

I'm finding it harder to work on his latch than with DD because my breasts don't feel as full, so positioning the nipple is a bit "floppy."

Several people have told me I'd just "know" if it were thrush, but I'm not so sure.

So, you believe your DS has thrush, but you're not sure if you have it - do I understand correctly? I'm assuming the "white goo" looks like thrush?

You mention you are feeling pain - could you describe the pain you're experiencing? When I have had a yeast infection I've had, at different times or sometimes simultaneously, both the burning pain that is typically associated with yeast, but also really bad nipple pain when nursing, pain that felt like bad latch pain.
