Phoenix Alexandre Jack was born on August 23 (at 39 weeks) by c-section after I fell and injured myself at 1am while cooking so we'd have frozen food for after the VBAC I wanted so bad. I slipped in the kitchen and did a split and couldn't walk at all. After an agonizing night of trying to sleep but being unable to and not even being able to walk to the bathroom to pee, or even lay comfortably, we called my parents down from Detroit (a 3 hour drive) and headed to the emergency room at about 10am.
At 6:48pm, Phoenix was born. He was much bigger than we'd guessed he'd be - weighing 8 pounds, 10 ounces! He has beautiful black hair and brown eyes (like his daddy, and offsets his two blonde-haired, blue-eyed sisters!).
His Apgars were great - 9/9. He's a champion breastfeeder so far! We just got home from the hospital last night. Everything is going really smoothly and we are just totally in love with our newest family member!
