What do you do with poo when you are out and about?

I'm terrified every time I leave the house that ds will poo while we are out.

He still nurses a lot and eats a little bit of solids so his poo is mostly breastfed with chunks in it, so I can't just toss the whole thing in the wash.
At home I dunk in the toilet. Then I lift it out and place it onto an old prefold and carry it to the wetbag so it doesn't drip everywhere and I don't get poop water on my hands.

I can't imagine dunking in a nasty public toilet or where I would set everything so I didn't end up getting poo water everywhere. I also can't imagine shoving everything into a bag and then fishing it out later.

What do you do with poo that doesn't 'shake off' when you aren't at home?

I have dealt with this very issue. But, I couldn't bring myself to use disposables every time we were out and about so...I took my chances, and, I have ended up dunking in public toilets (and wringing out with my hands) on occasion. Gross, I know, but really, I wash my hands afterward, and to me, it's better than carting around a poopy diaper all day. As for where to put everything...I use a stroller, so everything goes in there and the poopy diaper is the last thing I deal with. If there are chunks big enough to grab, sometimes I'll grab what I can with toilet paper and just shove the rest in the bag. I never minded carrying around EBF'd poops, but it does get grosser when they start solids, doesn't it?

I try to remind myself to use flushable liners when I go out, but you know how that is . Plus, I really just don't like the feel of the liners so I'm not motivated to use them. I guess if the public toilet and poop water really grosses you out, you could get some of those gloves that medical professionals use and just keep them in the diaper bag. At least then you wouldn't have to actually touch anything

We usually try to use fleece or flushable liners when we are out. I"m not big on dunking in public toilets, so if i forget a liner, I "plop" off what I can and shove the rest in the wetbag.

lately we use the fleece liners the most, so I'm only dunking the fleece, not the whole diaper. It's much less drippy and messy than dunking the whole diaper, and the poop comes off the fleece pretty easily.

I don't use them at home, but dh does. We are lucky that our laundry room and 2nd bathroom are one in the same, so our poopy pail is there, 2 feet from the washer. (we have a wet-only pail in the boys' room).

Flushable liners are great when you're out, so you can just dump it off. Or if I forget, we just dunk in the public toilet. It's gross, but it's better than carrying around a poopy diaper if you can avoid it.

DD doesn't poop too often, so we haven't had many poops to deal with while out, but the few times we have I've just stuck the poopy diaper in a plastic bag. I keep a roll of them in the diaper bag. I know, not nearly as environmentally friendly as other solutions, but like I said, it's rare. Having it in a plastic bag means the poop doesn't get onto any other diapers in the wet bag that I then have to deal with when home, and it means I can reuse the wet bag instead of washing it after every trip.

I too try to remember to use flushable liners when out, and if I do and thus not much poop gets on the diaper, I'll just stick the slightly poopy diaper in the wet bag and deal with it at home.

I would try the dumping in a public toilet but many of DD's poops are practically pasted onto the diaper--dunking would not get any of the poop off, just make it wet and grosser. :-)

DS' poos are pretty solid now... I can't bring myself to dunk in a public toilet. And many times, so I don't have to lug the diaper bag around with me I change him in the car. I just roll up the diaper like a sposie, being sure poo doesn't get on the outside which isn't hard and takes no effort. Then in the wet bag they go until we get home. There's no mess to worry about, and I don't have to be careful when I pull out the dipes because of the way they are rolled up. And, I even find that 'mushy' poo plops out a lot easier after an hour or two. No problem with the bag stinking either; I put 2-3 drops of lavender on the tab inside the wet bag.

We do flushable liners most of the time. I just dump the poopy liner in the toilet. If I don't have access to a toilet, or if I forget the liner and it's not going to come off easily, I wrap up the diaper and put it in the wetbag. I've never had any trouble with them opening in the wetbag, it's usually no grosser to deal with a few hours later than it would have been at the time, lol.

There are days when I'd like to quit solids just to avoid this issue, btw. But DD is 15 months, so I suppose she has to eat...

Just roll up the diaper (sometimes wrap in cover if that will help contain) and spray it with the diaper sprayer first thing when getting home. Or dunk at the destination toilet if we are traveling to relatives, etc.

I've always wondered what other Mom's do with the poo too. So far I've only dealt with a few poo diapers out in public. I usually roll up the diaper like a sposie. I then place it in my wetbag. Doing it that way I have never gotten poo on anything else. I never try to toss the poo in the toilet out because I can't do it while holding my son. lol

Exactly that. Except I just let the toilet water drip everywhere on the 2 ft trip to the diaper pail at home. Out, the wet bag is right there at the toilet. The way I look at it, rinsing out a poopy diaper is no different from wiping a toddler's butt or my own. Besides, I'd much rather deal with a poopy diaper than clean up vomit any day.
