Prefold padding

I have a silly question (or maybe not so silly), and it's driving me crazy!

Does anyone know why the middle pad in prefolds are always off center? I've searched and searched and I can't figure out why this is!

All of them. I've looked at a few different brands. All the same. I mean they work just fine, but I can't figure out why they're off centre. It makes it hard to do a newspaper fold.

I'm going to double check mine. I looked at the cheapies I got from Target (Gerber?) and they seemed on center. I have some fancier ones that I got from the consignment store, I'll check them. They all seem to be at the bottom of the laundry hamper at the moment. Obviously I haven't noticed!

I guess I never really noticed before. But thinking about it now, maybe it's because when you fold in the sides, one side will be under the other one so it works better if one side is narrower? (Like if you're trifolding a letter, the first fold is a bit smaller than the second.) IDK, honestly I never noticed so it's not like it bothered me. hehe

No, the one side folds like normal, but the other side either folds on a thick part, or folds just the edge. It's weird!

They work just fine, but I was hoping someone would know why this is. It's been bothering me for MONTHS. lol

Hey, sgmom- I know what you mean now! Yeah, mine are like that, too. Not the cheapo ones, but the other kind are. I was hanging one on the line, and I totally could see it!
