Cervix checkers share your wisdom! - Page 2

I want to play too! Checking.....

Okay, I reached up as far as I could... it just felt squishy, but I couldn't feel the end of it. I had my leg propped on on the tub, maybe I'll try sitting on the toilet or laying down. I just HAVE to know what it feels like.

Checking cervix

Hi everyone,
I don't know what to do - I am 35 weeks and all I can feel in there is the baby's head, low down (through lots of tissue, of course!). I have no idea where to find my cervix. I checked before I was pregnant and could always find it with no problem. What could be the issue now? Thanks!

When I was at the OB the other day I told her I checked myself and she laughed and said "how would you do that?" as if I couldn't do it on my own. I told her I thought my cervix was soft but I wasn't dilated the day before and sure enough after she checked me (very painfully if I might add) she said I was not dilated and my cervix was soft. So nothing had changed.

If you all can stomach real pictures of a real woman's cervix then take a look at the link to this blog. It really helped me to see what a cervix actually looked like so I knew what to feel for. WARNING!! It's quite graphic but very cool that this person shared so much info.

Most of us here have experienced something similar. The cervix just tends to hide when you are pg! It seems to be higher and more posterior. . .I couldn't find mine the other day even though I had found it a week or so ago. Don't worry about it. . .as you get close to labor (I hear) it lowers and moves anterior and should get easy to find.

OK still checking regularly. i *think* i figured it out at least somewhat, here is my guess, cervix is very soft but i think still anterior. i can't find an opening at all i think it's to far back.

Silly woman how would you know what is happening inside your own body : Good for you for telling her maybe she will check her own cervix now haha
Thanks for sharing the web page it is beautiful!

I checked myself yesterday and it seemed like I have effaced alot more(which I didn't think I would be able to feel) I bet I am like like 75% effaced and 2cm. I will let you all know what my midwife says on Tues.

Also I wanted to share that the reason I am into checking myself often and having the midwife check me is that I want to be a midwife therefore I am teaching myself on my own body. I don't believe my dilation or effacement has anything to do with when I will go into labor. Just thought I'd share

This is very cool! I wish the pregnancy pictures went through the whole pregnancy, but the lady who's pregnant is in her first tri. Oh well!

Thanks for sharing. I just passed the link on to a bunch of internet buds - they'll love it too!

Resurrecting an older thread...

I tried checking and I felt it, it was posterior but reachable, ver soft and mushy, and I could insert two fingers into the mushy hole in the middle and spread them apart maybe a teeny bit. What does that mean?

I'm 33.5 weeks, btw.

Sounds like you are 2 cm dilated. I would probably hold off on checks for now, since you are not full-term yet.
