Tried goat milk kefir today!

I've never had kefir before, so I tried this. And well...it wasn't the greatest taste in the world! I suppose it would take some getting used to. However, I don't think i will buy it anymore because I wasn't too fond of the taste and it was pricey. I would probably like cow's milk kefir better.

Today was also my first attempt at pickling cucumbers!! We'll see how they turn out in a few days.

Well, I've been making raw cow milk kefir for several years, and I *still* can't drink it straight. I like smoothies made with it, but straight, no way. I can't get it past my nose, because the smell makes me gag when I try to drink it. I suppose it is an acquired taste, one I haven't acquired yet.

Goat milk kefir

Be honest, when I first tasted my goat milk kefir I was not too crazy about it neither. It slowly grew on me and by the time I finished the 1/2 gallon kefir I didn't seem to mind the goat licking taste any more. Then I decided to try a different brand. Whoa! What a difference! I am not sure if the new goat milk was that much better or I just got used to the goat-y taste. I began to REALLY like my goat milk kefir. In fact, I liked it so much that I had to stop making it because I couldn't stop drinking it. Whenever I opened my fridge all I could think of was the goat milk kefir! I drank so much that I began to put on weight. Not a good thing to do so I had to go back to 2% cows milk. If not because I put on too many pounds I would drink goat milk kefir over cows milk any day! :
