Gave birth Monday!

Hi all,
I'm just now down to the computer after giving birth on Monday in a lightning fast UC (my second UC, fourth birth). Here are the sketchy details until I can get my full story written up:

38.5 weeks
dilated to 4cm before active labor
active labor started 2am, birth at 3:13am
contractions no longer than 30 secs, 1-2 mins apart
spontaneous ejection (my third one of these - like having a canon shoot the baby out all at once)
two small superficial tears "skid marks"
waterbirth
placenta 15 minutes, trailing membranes retained by clot for another 45 minutes
baby 8lbs8oz, 14.25in head, 21in length
great color/breathing, no issues
Dh was present although I envisioned being alone - I was confused/uncertain since it was so very fast
unfortunately not a sexual/orgasmic birth due to the speed

I'm working on processing things through - letting go of the birth I had hoped for and accepting the one I got instead. I'm very grateful for a lot of the details and I just have to say that birth is AWESOME.

Best to all of you in your striving for undisrupted births.

Congrats birthing goddess mama!! :

My DD was a "cannon ball" as well and man, that is a CRAZY feeling, isn't it? I'm kind of hoping for the same type of birth with my son...just because it was so fast, such a rush! All of my mothers four children were cannon balls, too...so maybe it's hereditary.

I'm sorry it was faster than you had hoped for....but I'm so glad to hear it was still awesome for you...congrats on your newest addition, I can't wait for pics mama!! s

YOU DID IT!!! :

Congratulations! We all have a lot of processing after each and every birth...somehow they never exactly turn out how we expected. My fourth was about a half an hour of labor, and though I've had quick births before, this was my quickest. And, hardly any pain...just a few painful contractions. It's weird sometimes thinking I was only going for a walk around the neighborhood with my mom less than 15 minutes before he was born!

Thanks, ladies. I'm doing well in my hormonal stew, working through things. I do have an update to my birth story, though. I thought to check my cell phone record of when I called Dh down to deal with the leaking hose. This was just about the moment that active labor began because I felt like I couldn't cope with the hose. Before that I thought for sure I'd be back in bed and filling the pool was stupid. The contractions were non-entities and I was still 4cm then. So that time was: 2:35am! So I was in active labor "on land" from about 2:30 to 2:50 and then in the pool from 2:50 to 3:13 before birthing. Wow. No wonder I was confused/in shock. I'm very grateful I was empowered and able to check my own dilation. It helped me get the little bit of a grip that I had which enabled me to move forward with my candles and pool and video camera. I know I would be far more disappointed if I didn't get to have those things as part of my birthing. And that atmosphere helped me get some inner peace.

Many thanks for listening all, you're helping me write my story as I work through this!

First, congratulations and welcome baby! :

I know first hand how a birth that fast can leave you reeling. It's okay to feel that way. My last labor/birth (3rd child) was just under 30 minutes and he was out in one involuntary push, he was also posterior. A birth like that can be pretty hard on your body and mind (it was both for me). My son was born solo UC, his father didn't wake up in time.
