Hi,
I'm looking into ideas that I can do to expand my business. I have some health problems that are making continuing as a full time midwife impossible. I am in the process of developing an idea I found on another site, which is like a cross between a life coach for moms and a mentor. People who basically pay to have phone sessions with me, plus get free classes or workshops online each month during the pregnancy, birth, and postpartum period. I wouldn't take the place of their health care provider, but rather, it would give them a chance to be able to discuss their problems, concerns, and learn about the changes in an atmosphere where they aren't limited to 7 minutes!
I also like the idea of coaching new moms who are starting their own businesses, I have found over the years in owning my own business, that the information is out there, but you often need some direction, some mentoring, some accountability to make it work. Someone to brainstorm with, make goals, troublshoot, etc.
I would also like to coach/mentor new midwives and apprenctices (plus doulas, lactation consultants, any childbirth type work) with their practice ideas. I am putting together information to write a workbook for starting your own practice, I used one for lactation consultants when I started and it was great!
Just wondering what others think of the idea? Any input? Anyone already doing this?
I know there are other business coaches and mentors, but I would like to have a niche where I am working with like-minded mamas and don't really see too much of that out there yet...
