Breastfeeding and High Blood Sugar

I partially failed the 3 hour sugar test while I was pregnant, so I had to monitor my blood sugar 4 times a day and control my blood sugar with my diet. I did great, and didn't need any intervention. My fasting levels were always fine, and I was able to eat many foods but not starches like wheat, rice or corn.

So anyway, I wasn't testing after birth until the doctor prescribed a 2 hour glucose test at my 6 week visit. I told her I would just check with a monitor. Most meals are OK, but Grape Nuts shot my sugar way up. So, I'm going back to my sugar control diet.

I'm curious about other moms with this issue and breastfeeding. What effect, if any, did high sugar levels have on breastmilk and the baby? I have tried to find info on line, but have not had any luck.

Thanks!

Just to clarify, I am not having any supply issues. I had plenty of supply, and the baby is gaining well and healthy. I am exclusively breastfeeding on demand.

The only issue he has is that he has some patches of eczema on his forehead, arms and legs and a little bit of cradle cap. His poop is all different colors (yellow, orange, brown, green), but rarely mucousy.

And he is a happy baby! Not too fussy, sleeps well at night. So I don't think we have any problems besides the eczema.
