Any other momma's out there that have been bf'ing for several years now? I just passed the 9 yr. mark in June when my oldest had his b'day. My only "break" was a short period during my 3rd pregnancy when I was really sore and weaned my older two but my younger one was still getting it about once a week then I think.

Answer for TOTAL years spent lactating, not including breaks. Thanks!

DD nursed until the day before her fourth birthday, when she told me she was "all set now, thanks Mama."

I tandemed ds and dd; he was born when she was 19 months old. Now I'm just nursing my boyo, who's 3.

I've gone 4 years now. DD1 was 27 months (she stopped the day DD2 was born so no break ) and DD2 was 24 months. I'll have a short break until Dec. when another 2 years will be tacked on.

My son is 16 months and still BF (although only 2-3 times/day...that is all he wants to do at this point) I hope he wants to keep going for a long time!!

I nursed DS for 13 months. Had a 7 month break and have been nursing DD for 13 months. So a total of 26 months.

I've been bf'ing for 4 years 2months+ straight with no breaks (DD, pregnant nursing DD, tandem with DS, now just DS).

DH wants another kid yesterday but I think I want a break.

Total years is about 9. And I think I'm almost done- it's been awhile since my youngest has nursed.

I voted 3-5 years. I began breastfeeding the day my first daughter was born in May 2004. I had no milk for her when she was 8 months old and I was 5 months pregnant with her sister by then. She resumed breastfeeding on occasion when she was 22 months old. I breastfed my youngest from the day she was born in August 2006 until August 2009 when I simply wasn't making anymore after a few months of her not nursing as often or for as long per session. So, minus the 4 months of non-lactation, I have been breastfeeding my babes for a total of 3 years 11 months.

I've been pregnant, nursing, or both since 2005.

3-5 years... started in 4/05 when dd1 arrived, nursed through dd2's pregnancy and then tandemed. DD1 weaned a few months before her 4th bday. DD2 wasn't fond of pregnancy milk and stopped nursing just before her second birthday so I had a "break" of about 4.5 months before DS1 arrived last week. I'm guessing he'll nurse 3-4 years, but I guess I'll see what happens!

I voted 5-7 years because my 1st i breastfed till 14mths would have been longer but i didn't know any better at the time and was being pressured by failiure to thrive clinic to give her cows milk instead because "didn't need it breastmilk now she was over 1" and i also worried breastfeeding would affect my unborn baby.
2nd i breastfed till about 11 1/2 months because my milk started drying up when i was about 4 mths pregnant with number 3 plus the waking 6+ times a night and waking at 5am was taking it's toll.
3rd about 26 months again my milk started drying up when i was pregant and the feeding became quite painful.
4th still breastfeeding at 17 months and no plans to stop anytime soon, hopeing to get to at least 2, maybe 3 although probebly wouldn't go any further than 3 i don't think, though having said that when i first found i was pregnant with my 1st i said i wouldn't breastfeed at all beacuse i was scared it would hurt, then i changed my mind and said only till 4mths, and then changed again to 6mths and went more than double so never say never.anyway total feeding time minus gaps is about 5 1/2 yrs so far

6 months here and loving every minute of it!

2.5 years here, and I am betting DS (who is 2.5 ) will go to AT LEAST 4 if not longer. He still nurses to sleep, once at night most nights, when he wakes up, at nap time when he is at home, and most days that he is with me all day he will nurse about 6-8 times more. He is a mama milk monster!

voted 1-2 years. Just have one baby and we just passed the one year mark. We are planning to TTC #2 around the first of the year, and want at least 3 kids.. and I'm pretty set on mostly CLW.. so.... This is year one of a lot of years of BF'ing..

4.5 years so far

Going on 7 years straight with no breaks. Considering the youngest is just 4 months old, I've still got a few years left!
