Need help finding a scarf pattern!

My BFF asked me to crochet her a scarf for Christmas. She wants a fairly long scarf (she's very tall) with a snowflake on either end. She also asked for fringe, but I'm sure I could figure out how to add that if it's not in the pattern. I am fairly new at crocheting, but I think if I had very clear directions, I could handle a pattern up to the intermediate level.

Please help if you've seen a pattern like this!

There is a photo of one on this blog that comes from a book called Positively Crochet.

Try looking on Crochet Pattern Central as well. From the looks of the one above the snowflake was just hand stitched on so you should be able to figure it out pretty easily.

This is exactly what I was looking for! I was thinking I could just take a regular scarf and add on the snowflake, but I don't know how to embroider or anything. I am not artistic at all, which is why crocheting works great for me - just do what the pattern says and you get something pretty!

I haven't seen the book, but I'm almost positive that the snowflake in the photo was crocheted, then stitched to the scarf.

ETA: If you wanted to do that particular scarf (but weren't interested in purchasing the book) you could check with your library and see if they have it. Otherwise, you could just do a basic one-stitch scarf in dc or whatever, add fringe, and crochet whatever snowflake you wanted, then stitch it on.
