HELP!!!!! Stool issues! FREAKING OUT!!

My three month old is having tummy issues and stool issues. I have never suplemented with formula but his stool has turned dark green with a blood streak mucous. Now I have read may different things that say he may have a sensitivity to the dairy I eat and drink. Can this happen?? Will he have an allergy to dairy after I stop breastfeeding?


Has anyone else had this issue.

blood streak is sometimes a rectal tear. my home child care guide says, when to call the doctor: abdominal pain with blood or mucos in stool.

It's also possible, with green poo, that he may be fighting off a virus of some kind. In that case, it should improve pretty quickly, within two weeks.

I do think though that if a child had blood in the stool for more than one or two poops, I would get the advice of a knowledgeable health care provider. Blood in the stool may just be a small rectal tear, or the result of baby having been exposed to a GI virus, but it can also be a sign that something is more seriously wrong.

And yeah, green poo and bloody stool are classic signs of dairy protein intolerance. That's one thing to consider.

I would get advice, though, if it doesn't go away quickly.

We went to the doctor today and she ckecked for tear and nothing so she told me to saw away from dairy for a few weeks and if he does not have any issue then it was a milk protien issue. We will see how is goes.

My 8wk dd had the same poo and I initially thought it was dairy but upon more research I realized that I'm dealing with an oversupply, forceful letdown, etc. You might want to read up on that as well, good luck!

FYI, dairy and soy often cross react (maybe 50% of the time?) so you may want to think about avoiding soy too.
