9 mth old vomiting, how to hangle BF?

Hi everyone,

9 mth old has had 2 bouts of vomiting tonight (930pm and 1020pm)... she had 3 different foods tonight (2 of them new, what was i thinking?!), so i'm not sure if it is related to that, or it's a bug.

can anyone remind me how to handle the nursing during a time like this? my older daughter had the flu at 13 mths, but that was 3 years ago so i cant remember what to do! how long to wait between nursing and vomiting, etc?

mama, I looked it up for you in two different books, and both say to continue offering to nurse as normal. One even says something like, "If the baby vomits the breastmilk that is OK, it will not irritate the esophagus like adult vomit."

was so tired and anxious I couldnt even spell HANDLE!

thank you - it was a pretty yucky night. i did offer at 1115pm and then again when she woke up at 4, 5, 6, and 7 this morning. until 7am, i only let her nurse a partial session - just wanted to make sure that she could keep it down. at 7, she nursed one whole side (relief! so engorged!) and she's doing fine.

Glad everything turned out well for you!

You brought back memories for me of my 2nd child. He had such a 'touchy' tummy I spent soooooooo many nights up with him vomiting for hours. When I was finally too tired to stay awake I would lay out every towel we owned on top of each other on the bed & we would sleep on them, then when he'd vomit I'd only have to remove the top one or two towels & we could go straight back to sleep. Next vomit, remove the next towels etc. Saved changing the whole bed (who has that many sheets??) So there's a good tip!
