Teeth

My 11 month just cut his top two teeth recently. As they are coming in, bfing is being more uncomfortable. My nipples are getting irritated with those two teeth rubbing against them and it's becoming a bit painful. Hubby's suggestion is to go to bottles but that is not acceptable to me on several levels.

Any suggestions on how to improve the situation?

(Mods please move if this is better suited elsewhere )

Anyone? I'm dealing with teeth, too. OP, the best I can do is to suggest waiting for a really wide mouth before latching on. But my nips are sore, too.

Sorry I don't have much good advice, but just wanted to say that initially I was feeling the same way, and it's much better now. Not sure why. It was mainly a problem when lying down nursing - our latch isn't as good then. But I haven't noticed being uncomfortable much lately. Hope it gets better for you. I'd suggest working at the latch like you did in the early days and see if that helps.

Megan - I checked kellymom and found some tips there: link

The tip on positioning made a lot of sense and I've been more careful about it and it seems to be helping.

Thanks, mama. It's not unbearable but it is making me grumpy – especially when he throws one leg over my shoulder and slaps my other boob

LOL Those have happened here too. My guy is also a wanna-be twiddler so I maintain a "one boob at a time" policy.
