dry flaky scalp help!

I have had chronic issues with dry flaky scalp. Since long before I started no-pooing 1 1/2 years ago. Since I have been no-poo, I have tried TTO, whipped cream (as suggested in Curly Girl), a jojoba oil treatment, adding brown sugar to my hair regimine, and I have played with the frequency of hair washings and what I use to wash with. The TTO isn't working. The jojoba helped but left my hair looking like an oil slick. The whipped cream made my hair smell like sour milk. and the brwon sugar didn't do anything at all. I'm typically a CO 2/week girl... I usually try to use something more natural (I've used burt's bees, yes to carrots, and kiss my face, I've also use Suave naturals). I recently broke down and bought a bottle of head and shoulders conditioner. Been using that for two weeks, and I still have a flaky scalp. And to make matters worse, it flakes mostly at the fron of my hairline... kind of in spots. But it's completely visible. I'm at a complete loss. Have almost considered seeing a dermatologist... but we can't really afford that right now.

I'm really hoping that someone has some good advice for me... or maybe a magic remedy or something. I'm tired of my hairline looking like a winter wonderland.

Look at your diet. Are you eating healthy with plenty of water and some fats? Our skin is our biggest organ and it generally reflects what is going on inside.

My DH has the other kind of dandruff...thick oily scales that flake...and I read that it is often a vitamin D deficiency. I suggested he take a walk outside at lunchtime every day (in the winter) and sit outside after work (in the summer). Just 10-20 minutes a day is beneficial (at least in our sun-drenched area). I also got him some vitamin D supplements that he takes at dinnertime if he didn't get outside that day.

I'm eating pretty well. Not perfect... but we do attempt to have nice balanced meals and we don't really do junkie snacks (except on occasion). I could probably do better with my water intake. I drink a glass or two at meals. But other than that... I have a hard time drinking water because I really don't like the taste (or rather, non taste) of it.

We go outside quite a bit... Of course that doesn't mean I'm getting enough vit D. But I do get some exposure
