should I give "milk" (goat OR what type?!) to 17 month old DD, who isn't getting enough BM?

Hi,
A bit of background. My DD is 17 months and maybe 19 pounds. She has always been tiny so we've worked hard to keep her weight up (lots of healthy fats, etc.). I've always had mild supply issues (but never supplemented with anything else) - just worked hard to keep it up. Now, my supply seems to be dwindling (I think I might be pregnant)......

She's a terrible sleeper and has always woken about every 1 - 3 hours to nurse all night long. We're currently using Dr. Gordon's plan to night wean (I just can't do it anymore so please don't suggest to go back to that :-)

She's intolerant to dairy (cow's), which used to give her really rough red cheeks, so we cut that out and she seems to tolerate goat well (cheese, yogurt).

Last night I gave her a bottle of goat's milk before bed (which she gulped down), after I nursed her. It was the first time EVER she slept and only woke up once the whole night!!!!!!

My question is: if I'm going to supplement with something, what should it be?

Is goat's milk a good option? Straight? Or in goat's milk formula recipe? Do I need to add anything to it? (I've read it's low in folic acid).

Should I try formula or is she old enough not to need it?

How much should I give her? During the day too? Now I'm worried she's been night waking due to hunger!

What other options do I have? I tried hemp milk, which she wouldn't drink.....

Thanks!

Did you both cut out the cow's milk? Because if she's waking up every 1-3 hours all night long, it sounds like you either haven't cut milk all the way out of your diet, or she has another intolerance. Make sure she's getting high fat foods... coconut milk, avocado.... and give her bone broth for extra calcium and minerals (and it helps heal the intestinal lining).

I think at 17 mo goat's milk is a great option. Most children are drinking/eating a varied diet by 17 mo.

Yep, I have been completely dairy free for a few years now....... I'm intolerant. I'm also gluten free.

She gets lots of avacado and coconut milk - but I do need to do more bone broths! Thanks!
