We are doing cloth, and I'm just starting to try EC as well. I've had 2 or 3 "catches" every day for the last 2 or 3 days, so I'm pretty happy with that. I don't think I'll do it full time, as I'll have to go back to work in another month or so (part time), and I love my cloth dipes, but less diapers are less diapers, right? And less gunk on his sweet little bum.
I have a few fitteds I made and a couple Thirsties fitteds that I really like. But we are mostly using prefolds, and I really like them. I don't love them for my older ds (2.5 yrs), but they are great for this one. Not sure why, but they seem easy for the little one. Maybe it's the fit. Anyhow, I usually lay the prefold out flat under baby (or if I use the infant size, I fold the back down about 2 inches). I trifold just the front part and bring it up between his legs. I then spread the front wings just a little and bring the back wings around to snappi. It usually keeps all the poo in. The jelly roll fold
is another popular one for nb's. Jillian, have you tried that?
I wash every day pretty much because my washer can't handle 2 kids-worth of diapers if I go much longer. Too many diapers to get clean. I rinse on cold, wash on hot with 1/2 scoop country save, then do 1 or 2 extra hot rinses. My big boy's diapers get stinky pee smell at times, so that's when I know I need to do some extra hot rinses. Sometimes I even have dh turn up the hot water heater (with caution for the little ones, of course).
Don't love the wool soakers I made, stuff just seems to leak out the leg. I think I need to try a different yarn and adjust my pattern through the crotch a little. We'll see.
