This may be old news (I first saw it on mdc quite a while ago) but it's worth looking at regarding lead (lead!) in vitamins. Rainbow Light was in the top 10 for lead exposure.
Somewhere I read a more comprehensive list of vitamins- The Rainbow Light version in the top 10 is the "complete prenatal system" where you take 6 a day. If I remember correctly the one-a-day version was significantly lower on the lead exposure list. I'll see if I can find the website that lists it later this evening.

Here's the site with more specifics on lead in vitamins:

...with about half as much as a serving of canned spinach or a glass of wine.

Since lead is a naturally occurring element, there are tiny amounts of it in many foods we eat.

The FDA has estimated that the safe daily intake of “lead” from all sources is 750 mcg for most adults, and 250 mcg for pregnant women. This means that most adults can be exposed to 750 mcg of lead per day, and no harm would be expected...
An FDA analysis also acknowledges food products like fresh spinach with 2.4 mcg of lead per serving, canned spinach with 8.5 mcg per serving, and a glass of wine with about 7.7 mcg of lead...a botanical dietary supplement product could conceivably have a lead content level of 3.5 mcg, plus the legal allowance of .5, for a total of 4 mcg per daily serving
linkie is not to the source material, but so much more readable!

orchid and henny....do the New Chapter pills come as a one-a-day? or are they the ones that you take every 6 hours or whatever? The last time I looked at prenatal pills at Wholefoods, I got so overwhelmed and frustrated that I just took the Wholefoods brand prenatal and left. Still using that right now, but need more very soon, and thinking of switching to New Chapter. Though, I really need a one-a-day....

preggymeaggy, the New Chapter are three small pills that can be taken all at once or spread out as you choose. I take all mine at bedtime.
On the vitamin lead issue, I realize that all the levels are deemed within "safe limits" but I, and others I'm sure, want to limit my intake as much as possible, of course. Choosing a low lead vitamin is an easy way.
As an aside, check out some of the levels in the children's vitamins. Some of those are actually pretty high and can really make an impact on total lead in the diet, especially if you have a kid who likes to eat spinach .

Love these! I took them for my 1st pregnancy- never once had morning sickness- and b/c I am still nursing, have been taking them ever since and will continue along with my fish oil caps.

They have probiotics in them for digestion ease and being whole food based means your body uses it all, nothing to expel and no yellow pee.
They cost a bit more but are so worth it. Anyone I have turned on to them hasn't has MS either. I do order mine online which is a great savings over the in-store Whole Foods price. If anyone wants the info, let me know.
Also taking New Chapter organics. Perfectly Prenatals. downside is its 3 timesa dayand atleast$50 for a2 month supply. But some major good stuff in there.

Have used and recamended the prenatals from Shakley

I like Gesticare, it is by prescription only and 60 dollars for a month (my OB recomends it) and Nature's Plus Ultra Prenantal, that you can get from vitacost.com for super cheap.
