When to make first appointment?

I'm not exactly sure how far along I am since my cycles are a bit irregular. If I had to guess Id say roughly 4 weeks. I think I remember my ob saying you had to be 7 weeks. I'd like to go in sooner because I went in with ds around what I thought was 5 weeks and he was measuring small and I was starting to spot. My levels were on the low end so she gave me progesterone. I'd like to have early intervention like that if someting is wrong and can be helped? Should I just call and make the appointment?

i would just call and explain the situation and they'll likely see you sooner. i on the other hand won't be seeing my midwife til 12 weeks, assuming all proceeds normally. (which is to say that is her usual policy.)

Yeah, most will see you as soon as you'd like if you explain past history with them (at least I would hope they would). I'm still trying to figure out when/where to go for first appt too.

I'm not sure when to make my first appointment either. We are talking with a couple midwives this week to see which is the best match. I guess we will see what they suggest.

If nothing else, I would get in sooner than later to get your prog levels checked. I have had two previous early losses and I went in to see my midwife at 15dpo to get levels checked. Also, if your prone to low progesterone, start on a natural prog. cream. My midwife has me using it three times a day.

For a normal situation, caregivers will usually set your first appt. around 9 weeks.

My first appointment will be at 8-9 weeks, but I phoned in two days after I got my BFP to check in and make the appointment.

I'd call and check - every ob/midwife has a different preference. My midwife with DD didn't want to see me until between 9-11 weeks. My midwife this time would like to see me between 8-10 weeks.

just wanted to post an update. I called my dr and at first they said Id have to wait till roughly 11 weeks. Then I explained about my previous loss and my low progesterone levels with DS. They said, "well dr.*** doest give progesterone before 11 weeks." Im thinking thats a lie because she gave it to me at about 8 1/2-9 weeks with DS... but whatever. But because of my nerves she scheduled me in at 7 almost 8 weeks. I wish I could go in sooner but i know I wont be able to see anything. This happened with ds. I went in so soon that all we saw was the implantation site! but Im looking forward to my first appointment.

I've already been in due to my pregnancy loss problems. We just did a beta and I'll go in again on Thursday to have another one.

After that not until 10 weeks.

My Dr wants to see me around 6 weeks due to previous history. The nurse asked my LMP, and I said I didn't know (still nursing) but that I O'd on August 14th. She put that the 14th was my LMP on her little wheel and said come in on Sept 28th because that would be 6 weeks, but by they time I will be closer to 9 weeks. they will see me when ever I call though because of previous losses.

My first appointment is Sept. 11. I'm actually surprised it's that early, I'll only be 6w4d.

I'm not sure when my first official appt. will be, but I'm starting to interview HB midwives tomorrow. I've got two practices to choose from that will do HB. If neither of them feel like a good fit, I'll have to move on to hospital-based MWs. I hope one of the practices works out!
With DD #1, I didn't have my first appt/exam until I was about 10 weeks.

Because I had 3 m/cs before having Isabel, I'm going in at 6w3d in about two weeks for an early ultrasound.

After that, my first normal midwife appointment is at almost 11 weeks .

My ObGyn has the first appointment at 8 weeks.

I'm getting betas done tomorrow (4w3d) & Thursday (4w5d) along with a progesterone check. I talked to my midwife today and plan to talk to her more tomorrow, but haven't scheduled an appointment yet.
