So as you all know I have some teeth issues. I am getting my first root canal done October 19. 665 dollars. Then in Janurai I have a molar that needs to either be pulled or root canal (were waiting then so that the insurance puts money in the account again or everything will come out of out pocket) and then another root canal.

I have myself convinced I am going to die from tooth infection. I have major health anxiety. And now I am so scared I am dying, leaving my husband and son behind because of a tooth infection. I am not in major pain, I just have a very slight sensitivity on the molar that is all. But a few months ago I had a molar that wouldn't quit hurting, i had it pulled because that did have a big infection. I still came out alright then too. But that scared me, so now I am afraid I am going to die.

But yet he can go and spend 5-10.00 a day on ciggs,drinks,whatever? Yeah offf!!! He better find his dang wallet I don't care if he has to shit out another ID that check better get cashed today. I am pissy.

men are idiots sometimes! My dh left his debit card in the atm a couple weeks ago and didn't bother calling the bank to let them know! We were lucky that no one stole it and returned it to the bank!!!

I am a firm believer in fairness. If your dh is going to buy ciggs and drinks for himself, you should very much be able to buy something for yourself. DH allot ourselves a certain amount of personal money and we don't police what we buy with it. If my dh spends it all on beer- that's all he gets until next paycheck. (We use cash so that we keep track of it better). Maybe a cash system would work for you 2 (I put "spending money" in our budget)?

Ann--BIG s. Something that really helped my health-fears was a book called The Dynamic Laws of Healing by Catherine Ponder. Maybe she's got some free articles or excerpts online....? She talks a lot about how the natural state of your body is health, and how our thoughts can dramatically affect our health, etc... Fear is the opposite of trust and love.

Hear him talk and women have no rights were just here. So no the cash thing does no good,he will spend bill money,etc anyway he can. I still haven't found the wallet everytime I suggest something else he freaks out on me. So whatever. I guess he is going to go try to get a lost licenses with a paper from the licenses agency saying he lost his licenses. I have a old licenses (2 or so years ago) and I know they won't take it but he might try to use it anyways. Otherwise,I guess we are waiting the 10 days. We have no food left what so ever. I just don't know. I am on the verge of packing up,and leaving.

And, I think a lot of 50's husbands allowed their wives to have their own spending money.. you work just as hard as he does. But that may be a thread for "Parents as Partners"

Well sure enough DH's unemployment was put on hold & he has a phone interview to determine if he is still eligible but not until 10/21. That is 6 weeks without income all because he honestly answered the question about starting a training program. Thank goodness we have enough cash stockpiled to get us thorugh or we would REALLY be in trouble. 6 weeks!!! That is insane!

Sheesh, so much stuff happening on this thread
So, I went to Mickey Finn's and applied for the cashiering job (I think I was one of the first people applying) and talked to Scott (the hiring guy-really nice) He said that he will call me next week one way or the other, but I have a REALLY good feeling about this.

Then last night...
I ended up in the ER with my DD1. Now, she is a drama queen under NORMAL circumstances, but she was complaining about a cut under her armpit. So, I looked at it last night and it was infected. So at 10pm last night I took her to the ER, luckily there was only 1 other person there so she went in right away.
Anyways, they had to lance it and get all the gunk out of it, and now she is sleeping peacefully for the first time in 3 days.

Nothing like a little midnight drama, huh?

UPDATE: She's awake and feeling much better now. Says her arm hardly hurts at all anymore

So our washer broke last night and hubby is going to try to fix it tomorrow. Otherwise we are going to have to buy a new one. Today is my 5th wedding anniversary so we are going out to eat in a city a hr away from us with my brother in law and his gf. My brother in law took a TON of metal stuff we had sitting on side our house from people before to the junkyard to sale it.. Like a old lawnmower,poles,ac's,metal disk for gardens so that should pay for our dinner tonight! I am glad too. This has been a semi good day!

I know I don't normally post in this thread, but I wanted to share something. Keep in mind, this might not be what happened w/ your dd, but boy! do I wish someone had clued me in after my dd's first "infection" incident!

My DD had a infected "cut" in her armpit and it turned out that she had MRSA. That means an infection of Antiobiotic resistant bacteria. Apparently, it can be spread from sharing personal items such as razors, clothes, bedding, etc. Some of the treatments/preventions are pretty extreme but one that makes sense and has worked so far for us was to have her wash using Safeguard soap because it is antibacterial. She makes sure to pay attention to all the nooks and crannies such as between toes and behind ears, etc. We found out about using Safeguard after her 3rd MRSA infection. Since switching soaps, she hasn't had an incident. Please caution your dd about sharing personal items. My dd's 3rd infection was a big boil-like thing on her chin! They had to lance it and put her on antibiotics. She's gonna have a scar and I think the whole thing could have been avoided if I'd been given accurate information the w/ the first infection.

Not sure why I'm posting here. I'm taking the LSAT tomorrow. I'd be more chipper about it, except that I have no idea how I'm going to pay for law school applications. I don't even know how I'm going to pay for getting the stupid car fixed. We've sunk $1000 we didn't have into this car in the last month and a half, and it should be ok with another $200 in work. Of course, the guy who will do it for $200 is going in for surgery on Oct. 7th, so even if we come up with the money, we'll have to probably double it to have someone else do it. It's times like these I wish I lived back in my hometown where I know 3 mechanics who would do it for free.

I used up food stamps at the beginning of the week. So I'm only buying things like milk that we have to have, and just going with what's already in the cupboards the rest of the month. Of course, every time I buy even a gallon of milk, that's probably shorting our rent money. Fortunately when they renewed our DES benefits last month they upped my food stamps from $27/mo to $136. That and the WM gift card that was supposed to be my birthday money from the in-laws was all the money we have this month. I hate spending birthday money on toilet paper.

I didn't read all 18 pages...wow! I'm a divorced, pregnant single mom with no education, career, or job. I have about $700 in cc debt but nothing else and no major health problems thankfully.

I am TRYING to move. Any ideas on cheap moving? No friends or family for the most part. I am going to have to beg exdh to help me with the heavy stuff. I found a coupon for ONE free day from ryder but they aren't open on weekends WTH?

My biggest issue is finding a place to rent though. My upper crust price is $600 and that's stretching it. I however don't have much in the way of a deposit. I found A place that I like. $525/mo $525 deposit, no specials (although I'm gonna beg for a month free). I think I'm going to have to give all the cash I have and use a credit card for things that I don't have the cash for (and be super tight as always). I just hate being where I am. It's not a good place for me or the kids and if I can get back into town I might be able to get a job or something.

For my income right now I have child support and ex is military so I don't have to worry about going down to zero income but it certainly doesnt afford me any savings, extras, clothes, shoes, xmas is scaring me.

ETA: nm it got rented out...as does everything so now i'm back to square one after a week of spending money and getting no where. i'm seriously irked.

I feel a little strange posting on this thread because I really feel that my DH and I are coming from a place of privilege. For the past 5 years, he's been an 8th grade math teacher while I've been in school, and we've been making it on his salary, which is about $38K/year.

But, I need to finish up law school, and in order to do that quickly, I need to be in my clinic almost full-time, and then, it'll be full-time prep for the bar exam for 2 months so that's almost 6 months of needing full-time care for my daughter.

Which, at it's cheapest given her age, was going to be about $1200/month, which was almost half my husband's monthly take-home.

So, we decided to take the plunge, and he's taking child-care leave this school year. (Basically, we get to pay for our medical benefits, and he's guaranteed a job in the district at the end of the school year to come back to.) It just seemed to make the most sense.

But, I'm freaking out about finding a job. The pressure is immense, and we didn't have a huge savings cushion. We're going to be living on loan money until I get a job.

I just applied for WIC and used it for the first time yesterday, and while it's going to be incredibly helpful, I wish it had more flexibility. I.e. I'd kill to be able to get more eggs and less milk.

I've applied for food stamps with DSHS, but I have no idea when that will be processed. And, I'd apply for Basic Health, but they're not accepting new claimants unless you fit into one of 7 categories, which we don't. So, instead, my husband and daughter will stay insured 'cause we think we can afford $678/month instead of the $1200 it was going to be to insure all of us.

It's just so overwhelming. Fortunately, we were living frugally already because my husband's salary did not go very far in our high COL area. And, I'm trying to console myself with the fact that if we can make this work, we'll never fall into the 2 income trap.

And, then, the best reason of all to try and make this work is my daughter.

I hate spending my Bday money on bills and stuff too! ~ Can you get on WIC for the times when you have to get Milk...? they give out a TON of it!

!!! With costs like that, I can't even fathom how anyone can get ahead?!!
