I'm so excited at the potential of influencing the next generation. My SIL is not married and doesn't have children yet. The other day, my SIL was getting ready to change my DS's diaper, and I said, "You probably already know this, but for a little boy who's not circumcised, you don't pull the foreskin back to clean. You just clean it like a finger. Pulling the foreskin back can actually cause him infections!"
She said, "Wow, I didn't know that it could cause infections. Okay, so just clean like a finger, then? Got it."
I'm excited at the chance to expose them to intact as normal before they ever get married or have kids. My BIL and husband are both circ'ed, so it makes me wonder what my SIL and BIL would do with their sons, if they ever have them.
I'm just glad that hopefully I planted a seed in SIL's head that at the very least circ isn't necessary and that intact care isn't hard. Then when she actually gets married and has a baby, I can talk to her more. She's very easy to talk to and very open minded, so I'm hoping for some intact nephews.
I just love having the chance to expose her to intactness and proper intact care before it's even an issue for her.
I always feel kind of awkward instructing people not to retract, but it looks like it's a door of opportunity for education.
