Attaching Aplix to knitting?

I am trying this diaper wrap pattern http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/whw-plain-wrap

I would like to do the Aplix version for better size flexibility/fit but have no idea how to sew Aplix to knitting. Would you handsew it? Zigzag stictch on the machine? Any ideas would be appreciated

Thanks flapjack! Ended up using a straight stitch on the machine and going very slow. It turned out pretty well!
