nursing a 10.5 month old.. possibly preggo again. supply issues?

Hey ladies! This is my first time posting on here. Anyway, I have been happily nursing my 10.5 month old dd2 with no probs. No supplementing, as I've always had puh-LENTY of milk.

Well, I *think* I may be pregnant with #3. (It's still really early, though I've gotten a faint positive on a test. Not planned!) Coincidentally, dd2 miraculously started sleeping through the night (11-13 hours! Still in utter shock! She used to nurse several times a night.) about a week ago. I think the possible combo of these two things are naturally decreasing my supply.

I'm not sure what to do. I want to trust my body, but it's hard! I am absolutely relishing this sleep (also have 2yo (dd1) that is a rough sleeper, so having one kid that sleeps is a dream come true), and have tried pumping before I go to bed, usually a couple hrs after dd2 last nursed and can get a few ounces then. She doesn't take a bottle, and the sippy cup is coming very slowly.

I want to make sure that she gets enough breast milk. She does eat a few small meals of solids (a little bit of purees, and finger foods like fruits, shredded chicken, little bits of cheese, etc.). Anyway, I am wondering if any of you have BTDT or have any advice. She's happy and healthy, but I just want to make sure that she's getting all the BM that she needs!

Ironically, this is what happened last time around. I got pg when dd1 was about 9.5 months old and by the time she was around 11 mos my supply was really taking a nosedive from the pregnancy, despite my former abundant supply and our frequent nursing sessions. So she weaned without complaint at 13 months. I don't think much milk was coming out by that point, and she didn't seem to mind. Before I got pg, I had the notion that we'd keep BFing through the 2nd year, but things don't always go as planned!

Thanks. :-)

Sounds like YOU have BTDT!! I don't know that there's much you can do to keep your supply up when you're pregnant. The changes are due to hormones and what can you do about that? Herbs and medications are not recommended during pregnancy. Eat a healthy diet and drink lots of water and monitor your 10-month-old's growth. If she starts to lose weight, you may have to really push solids and/or supplement.

Good luck!!

My 11 month old has never taken a bottle, and hasn't gotten the hang of the sippy cup at all. But we give him water and expressed breast milk in a regular cup or glass, holding it for him, and he can drink all he wants that way. Just a thought, in case one of your issues is HOW to give her the milk you do pump. Good luck with everything!
