How did you tell people?

Any cute ideas for sharing the pregnancy news?

I just bought double picture frames to give to my parents & DH's mom - on one side will be a picture of our daughter and on the other side it will say, "Space Reserved for Grandchild #2, arriving in May 2010". Since we live on the other side of the country from them, we can't be with them when they find out the news, but hopefully they'll call us as soon as they open them!

Still looking for ideas for telling everyone else. I was just going to put my Facebook status as "Lauren loves having a birthday in May and hopes baby #2 agrees!" and see if everyone got it.

very cute!!

i told sister #1 (i have two sisters and am the oldest) by making her a surprise mix cd with all songs that mention babies, siblings, mothers/fathers, etc on it. i did this last time with my other sister (#2) and it was a big hit. last time i had taken sister #1 out to dinner and given her _the birth partner_, so i thought i'd switch it up this time. she surprisingly didn't get it at first!

(this time, i told sister #2 by calling her up sobbing hysterically -- very ceremonious).

with my parents we brought wren up the block in a little shirt that said on one side "who has a secret? i do do!" with one owl, and on the other had two owls and said "i'm gonna be a big sister!" they FREAKED. so cute.

we will probably make a card involving pictures of wren wearing that shirt to tell my mil/fil.

Cute stuff

I gave people baby stuff (onesies, bibs, etc.) that related to them . For my DH, I gave him several soccer onesies and bibs, I game my dad some onesies that had Italian stuff, my stepmother got bibs that had the Polish flag and emblem, etc. It's been fun to take pictures of Evangeline in this stuff after we got it back and send it to our folks.

DD was supposed to be a saggitarius like my mom so we got her a onesie that said "Saggitarius Baby." She turned out to be a scorpio, though, which was our first clue that she is one determined baby!

haha wren too! although she was "due" right on the cusp of sag/scorpio and i just assumed i'd go late since she was my first and therefore assumed she'd be sag. nope! she came two weeks early!

This is a pretty bawdy... look away if you're faint of heart.
Those who've been TTC know what it's like to be having scheduled sex, always focused on babymaking. My husband completely cannot keep track of my cycles, though. With my positive HPT in my pocket I jumped him in his home office for some non-insertive lovemaking. It was great fun, but afterward he apologized for being so caught up in the moment that we didn't rearrange things so that a conception would be possible. I told him we didn't need to have "breeder sex" anymore, and slipped him the HPT. It was hysterically funny, he was so caught up in his glow that it took a while to hit him. I've been dying to tell someone but it's just wayyy TMI.

For my family, we had them all over to dinner and told them that we were so grateful for all their support with the first baby, we were going to repay their generosity by leaning a little harder. My delighted parents are already trying to persuade us to have our homebirth and lying in at their house...

Oh, wow! What a great coincidence Evangeline was "due" 12/12 but she showed up 3 weeks ahead of schedule on 11/21 which I think might have been your DD's due date? From all I've read, DD is on the cusp.

I need to start a new thread, b/c I am kind of weirded out about having a taurus baby--silly, eh? I am still getting used to having a scorpio child! What's funny, is that I'm not that "into" astrology but I do find striking truths in astrology characteristics...

Wobit, that's really funny. This time DH found out b/c he was in the shower, I peed on the stick and then started bleating expletives along the lines of "no (insert expletives) way!" He peeked out and got very wide eyed. After the fourth test from yesterday he made me stop and rejoice.

DH and I were anxiously waiting for the day we could go for our post IVF blood work to see our betaHCG levels and find out if I was pregnant. We decided we weren't ready to hear the news completely over the phone and bought a HPT. I got up early one Saturday morning POAS and came back to bed. I told him one of us would have to look in 3 minutes and put the stick between us. At 3 minutes I couldn't look although I really felt it would be positive. He looked and hugged me and that was it.

We told my mom, sister and brother over the phone after the blood test confirmed. They were anxiously awaiting the results so we missed out on being able to surprise them. We haven't told anyone else yet but I plan a big announcement at Thanskgiving (Canada) maybe.

Originally our plan wasn't to tell anyone outside of our immediate family and closest friends, but that plan fell to pieces. Our two older daughters went to church with my inlaws over the weekend, and although my husband made sure to tell his parents not to say anything, we totally forgot to tell the girls it was a secret. So,....I woke up Sunday morning to a bunch of texts of congratulations. Yesterday I asked my husband with so many people already knowing, was there really any point in keeping it mum, and when he agreed there really wasn't, I posted it on facebook. My husband being the goof ball (and fan of the movie Juno) he is, asked me to put, "My eggo is preggo." On MySpace and Twitter I went with the simple, "...is growing a person."

Since I got an awesome Beta result yesterday, DH and I have been scheming... Most everyone will know by the holidays but we're hoping to send out a picture card to announce. DH and I are HUGE hockey fans- DH bought me a tiny Boston Bruins jersey when we began to TTC way back

For the picture: We think we're going to dress up in our hockey jerseys (hopefully I will still be able to squeeze into mine by December!) and hold up the tiny one... and the caption will read: Happy Holidays from two hockey nuts and their First-Round Draft Pick due May 2010!

Oh snap! Who's hosting the 2010 NHL Winter Classic this year?!?!? Oh yeah... Us!

OT: I'm so bummed I can't go. DH is trying to enter the lotery for tickets, but I don't think I'll be in the best condition to sit in outside Fenway in January weather
