Unvaxed 5 year old stepped on pin outside. WWYD?

My 5 year old stepped on a straight pin in our backyard today. It went into the arch of his foot approximately 1/2 inch. I heard him screaming and removed the pin in <45 seconds, then washed his foot in warm water with antibac soap several times.

There is a tiny dot where the pin went in and it did not bleed at all. We do not have pets so no poop in the yard.

Do you think this call for a trip to the doc? What would you do??

I would do what you have already done and keep an eye on it. The only thing the doc will do is tell you to get the Dtap which would be useless anyway.

I would squeeze it to get some blood out.

And I would put some peroxide on it (YMMV) as it can be a visual sign of oxygenation.

If you're really scared about Tetanus, you can request a Tig shot.
