Help! DH turned our prefolds pink!

He ran a red towel through the wash with our nice white prefolds, and now they are faintly stained pink. Does anyone know of a safe way to get them back to white? They were already put through the dryer when I discovered them. Grumble.

You will end up washing them a lot - even without doing much they will probably fade.

If you want it to go faster, consider vinegar rinses/washes. Maybe add lemon juice. And sunning - that'll probably do the most good.

Or you can go with the flow - pick up some Dylon dye and make colourful prefolds.
Don't these look pretty? http://myenchanteddandelions.blogspo...-prefolds.html

Faint pink will likely wash out after a few washes. I might try sun bleaching them too (hang them out in the sun for a few hours per side...this might work best if you hang them out while they're still damp from the wash).

Once it's been set, you're pretty much out of luck. Sunning it to fade, letting it fade gradually or over-dyeing are about your only options, since bleach is not a good idea with diapers.

That BAD red towel.

I second dying them

ie: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3565/...dc549171_m.jpg Its hard to mess up dyed prefolds.

I threw my new red booroi diaper cover in with a load of other covers and prefolds and the prefolds all came out lightly pink - over the last 3 washes though they have almost completely gone back to their original color. I think dyed prefolds are pretty too! but if you don't dye, don't worry they'll go back quickly..
