dress-up the bike ideas?

Soon our town will have the Tour de Fat. It is a bike event where you dress up you and your bike and ride through the city. It is awesome- people put together bizzare bikes 10 ft tall, dress up crazy... There are a lot of college kids, so there is a lot of creativity and resources to pimp out a bike. It is so much fun and so amazing to see what people come up with.

DS1 loves to ride in it. He just turned 5, but is a total bike kid. Last year, he rode in this at 3 yrs old, no trainingwheels, 3 miles on his own steam. Everyone cheered him on and he was quite a sight- this little toddler/kid grinding it out on his bike...

So- anyone have any suggestions as to a theme for his bike this year? We're up for whatever, as long as it is safe (not to bulky or inhibits vision or balance or the function of the bike). Really- the crazier the better! I haven't asked ds yet if he has any ideas. I kinda wanted a few to have as back-up for him to think about if his ideas didn't work out.

Can't give you any ideas sorry, ours is this weekend. Might just ride my Fat Tire bike and watch the fun this year.

What's he into?

When I think bike decorations, I think about the ribbons we used to wrap around the spokes of our bikes when we were little. But, you want a theme? Hmmm.....I gonna have to think about that some more.

just wanted to say i'm jealous because our TdF got cancelled beginning last year. too much drunken revelry.

i guess i would suggest letting him have plenty of creative license. you could always go with his idea, and just help guide it into something functional.

I've had this on my mind because I really like watching everyone (and it sounds like you may live in the same town) so I've come back with some thoughts . A bike outfit just like the big guys wear would be cute, a spider would work becase you could just add another set of arms under the actual ones with legs the same coler, a superhero, a cowboy and his "steed"....
